The Customer Care Associate provides prompt and courteous customer service assistance through extensive personal contact with the public. Provides route and schedule information, answers inquiries and obtains information for general public, customers, visitors, and other interested parties. Receives complaints and recommendations via telephone, email, fax and in person. Takes calls and makes reservations for paratransit customers. Sells fare media and maintains accurate reconciliation records for all revenue instruments and cash receipts. Provides other materials and written information to customers. Performs various clerical and office tasks and related work as assigned. May have to work overtime, weekends, evenings, and/or holidays.

Under general supervision, checks levels and dispenses fuels, cleans and services buses. Works shifts include nights and/or weekends.
The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs maintenance and service tasks to repair BJCTA’s buildings, including bus shelters and bus stops, involving painting, plumbing, graffiti removal, mechanical and carpentry, using small equipment and hand tools. Also, performs a variety of routine cleaning tasks and semi-skilled maintenance repair work on a wide range of projects. This position is subject to random drug testing in accordance with BJCTA’s Drug and Alcohol Program.
The Building Custodian performs a variety of manual tasks in the care and cleaning of buildings. The Building Custodian will be responsible for work that involves specific and routine operations.
Maintain, repair and/or rebuild all gas, diesel, Electric, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle owned and operated by BJCTA. Equipment ranges from light to heavy duty vehicle.
Fixed Route Operator is responsible for providing safe, courteous, and on time transportation to the general public. Under close supervision, operates commercial public transit buses in the Birmingham Jefferson County service area. Must have a valid Alabama Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B and with a passenger and airbrake endorsement. Must have new Alabama learner’s permit if have only taken the written CDL test.

The Grants Coordinator assists with the coordination and administration of activities related to the development and monitoring of compliance for all Authority grant funding. Develops grant applications, grant progress reporting, and compliance with grants.Responsible for non-procurement contract file maintenance and compliance with contract requirements. Ensure subrecipients are compliant with all grant regulations. Plan, organize and direct the activities of grants to ensure accurate, and timely reporting of grant data to management, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and other governmental agencies.
The Operations Supervisor (Fixed Route)oversees a team of fixed-routebus operators in the performance of their daily duties in order to maintain an efficient and reliable transit system. Monitors bus service and investigates and analyzes situations that impact or may impact bus service. Make independent operations decisions and communicates with radio dispatcher and/or management persons on more complex issues. Interacts with management, bus operators, other employees, passengers, and the public to coordinate problem resolution, provide information, carry out assignments and maintain high quality and timely transit service.
The Executive Assistant provides principal administrative and clerical support for the Chief Executive Officer and the Authority Board of Directors. The Executive Assistant provides high-level administrative support to the Board of Directors, and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or designee by preparing, editing monthly correspondence and statistical reports. Ensures that correspondence, communications, presentations, and other documents are completed in a timely manner. Designs and maintains databases, files and retrieves documents and reference materials as required.
Planner II /Scheduler is responsible for advancing the mission and goals of BJCTA by supporting thedevelopment of thoughtful and technically sound plans and projects. Scheduler/ Planner II will developschedules, including run cutting, in accordance with the service improvement plans and the labor unionagreement. This position will work in close conjunction with senior staff to assess routes, scheduleefficiencies, productivity, and make suggestions for future service needs.
Under general direction, plans, organizes, and participates in the most complex and difficultwork of professional transportation planners related to the development of transportationplans, studies, projects, and programs for the BJCTA and its member agencies; plans, develops,implements, and manages complex planning projects; directs the work of a major planningprogram; develops and completes technical assessments, written project analyses, andperforms highly complex technical writing and organization assignments, includingpresentations to the BJCTA board, committees, and outside parties; provides professionaladvice and assistance to the public on transportation planning projects, studies, and programs;completes applications for grants; provides highly complex professional assistance to theDirector of Planning, Executive Director, and the public in areas of expertise; performs relatedwork as required.
